God, I'm gone trust you on this!
I fasted for seven days.
Backup story: I'm terrible at fasting. Till now, I've consistently failed when I was fasting. But the Lord told me to fast, so I decided to fast. To fast for my spiritual life (because I felt too far away from God), for a job, and for the things He wants me to do.
From the 10th to the 17th of July, I fasted. But nothing happened that week. What I was praying for didn't get answered. My prayer was to find a job. A job where He wants me to be. I don't mind where it is. I will Go! But, It wasn't answered. Do I need to give up on prayer?
Sometimes we expect our prayers to get answered when we want them, and so did I. A lot of time, we hear people telling their experiences where the Lord has responded to their prayer and given them what they were praying for, and we think that the same need to happen to us. But everybody's story is different. Did that mean that my faith is lacking or that what I'm asking is not according to what the Lord wants? The Bible says that there is timing for everything.
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. {Ecclesiastes 3:1}.
So, if you've fasted with honesty, one thing you can be sure of it is that you are now closer to God than before. In my case, when I fasted for a job, I didn't get a job. At that same time, I also prayed to get closer to GOD, I could see that shift, and I'm thankful for it.
My giveaway is that I go to the Lord with my problems because I trust that He has the solution. In some cases, we know that we need to do our part, in this case, keep searching for a job. On other occasions, you need to pray about it and trust the Lord with it. That if it is His will for you, it will come to pass.
I'm still praying for it.
