How to forgive?
Have you ever hated someone so much that just hearing their name gets on your nerves? Just thinking about meeting them gives you this negative vibe and feeling. Still, the Lord tells us to love them. The one that hurt and used you? How can you forgive? That is the question I have.
I'm not writing this because I know how to forgive. Neither do I pretend to know that. But I know that once in our life, we hated someone so badly that we didn't even want to see them. You treated them too well. You were honest with them. Still, they weren't. Maybe you tried to save a friendship beyond saving, but you were the only one putting in all the work. At least, it seems that way. After all, their feelings might have been misunderstood.
I wonder; how I can forgive. How can I love them as Jesus tells me? How can I pray for them? How can I bless them? We know that God won't forgive us if we don't forgive. But it is so hard. This person doesn't deserve it. So, do we? Do we deserve everything that God did for us? Even though it hurts, it is something He expects from us, His followers.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Matthew 5:44
I know it is hard to forgive. Still, as children of God, He wants us to make a difference.
Let us keep praying on those feeling and also pray for them. It may feel unpleasant, but let's follow the Lord in the lesson of life! Thanking Him for the opportunity to work on our character.
Moral of the story
Through this, the Lord is teaching me how to love. How to love as He loves me? Also, He loved the whole world, even though they killed Him. Jesus died for all of us. So, we need to be thankful for the opportunity given to us. To work on our character, we became more like Him every day.
Be blessed, and stay blessed!
