You want the person, but not the baggage?

I've heard this in my sleep; "You want the person, but not the baggage? It makes me wonder, what does that mean?

As someone that hasn't been in a relationship, sometimes we think differently from someone who has been in one. How can I say I love that person but can't accept what he carries? It is not like They are the only ones bringing baggage. We all have! Does that mean, He needs to accept mine, but I can't accept His? What kind of love is that?

Love is a word we understand, but not many people know how to love with true love. A love that is sacrificial, patient, etc. Most of us believe that love is all about being lovey-dovey with each other, that is a part, but it's not the whole thing. So, I've asked the Lord what love is. How can I know I truly love someone? I'm not there yet, but one day I will be!

Till now, what I learned or concluded is that love is universal (for everybody). It's a language that every follower of Christ needs to have. Why? Because God is love!

To my understanding, love is:

Healing

If someone loves you, Their love will heal you, not break you. They always want what is best for you. Your happiness is their happiness; it's not one-sided. You will not lose yourself in the long run, but it makes you a better version of yourself. It's about giving and taking for both parties. Is this love? What does it mean if They hurt you? Does it mean They love you any less? No, we all are people; we are all selfish and sometimes think only about our feelings. Love means hurting that person wasn't your intention.

Patience

What will you do with the not-yet? I've told Him to do this many times, but He still needs to do it. Would you give up on that person? How long do you need to wait for Him to change (this is not about dysfunctional relationships)?

Work

As single people, we tend to be very selfish. It's my money, my time, my food. But what if someone comes? Are you able to share those things? Loves is dying to your selfishness.

So, love is hard; not everyone is ready for that. I'm one of those.
